I created this collection around the dotty watercolor print that I created which has become something of a signature print for me. The large scale floral is new (put into repeat just today!) and was originally painted on 18”x24” watercolor paper. Both of these main prints remind me of the joy I feel when creating and throwing paint around. A feeling of freedom that feels the most like “me.”
I am keen on painterly brushstrokes and I love to explore spontaneous mark-making. I started this collection with a loose floral, sketched in watercolor brushstrokes. I kept the same color palette when I moved on to making intuitive marks on the canvas and letting one brushstroke or shape inform the next. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Jacqueline Maldonado collection without some texture and technique juxtaposition.
This collection of prints were created in a single day. I allowed myself to play: with motifs, with style and with my tools. I am ever expanding my toolbox and each of these patterns were created entirely in Procreate, a program very new to me. I tried (and failed sometimes too) to create in this new format while staying true to my vision, all in the spirit of play.
A fun tropical collection with a palette of contrasting vibrant brights and pastel hues. As alway,s an eclectic mix of my styles and techniques.
These prints were all created in a very carefree, non deliberate way. “Nonchalant Coral” is one of my more popular prints and has been featured with Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters on several home decor products and has also been featured in Joanna Goss’s book, “Watercolor Ideas.” I built this collection around that print using some color adjustments to coordinate the eclectic aesthetic.
A collection of watercolor dye patterns, inspired by traditional shibori dye techniques.
Capturing the magic, feeling the connective energies and vibrations of the Universe.
Bold, wild and loose brushstrokes and vivid color converge for the energy of the free spirit.
I wander artistically. The process of creating these mood boards was like the culmination of the seeds of ideas I have been nurturing and growing for some time now. Though I wander, all of the paths are connected. Like branches growing from the same tree, and nurtured by the same roots, allowing the trunk to thicken and to climb towards the sun, lifting limbs towards the sky.
Art is my prayer, each piece a message simultaneously to and from the Universe, from me to me, from me to you, from you to me… and you see how that goes on? We are all soulmates, connected.
Feel the tropical boho vibes with this trendy mix of watercolor floral palm leaf prints and traditional stone and dye textures. The contrasts of geometric versus painterly and solid versus airy, all in a fresh palette of blush pinks and greens, combine for a balanced, playful and harmonious aesthetic.
